Celebration Needed! May 7th 2007 Our Progress So Far of Thank yous! We were looking to see over 500 thank you emails/letters or phone calls go to key members that made this happen! As of May 7th, 177 emails have been sent or 26% of our goal!! The General Assembly Approves... New MRWP services for 1,546 people, and a Medicaid Buy-In option for approximately 290 people throughout the state! In funding these new supports, the General Assembly chose to follow the intent as set forth by the multiple year funding plan developed by DHR and DCH. It is because of your advocacy efforts throughout the year, we all were able to make a difference! We must make sure that those legislators who were especially helpful hear our gratitude more loudly than any other interest. Go to the bottom of this web page to send your thank you emails. Encourage your loved ones to do the same. The Governor, House and Senate have heard your voice and have proposed the following budget items to Unlock Georgia's waiting lists for disability supports. In the coming days, the budget now goes to the Governor to sign. Item State Total Department of Human Resources: Increase funds to provide for a net increase of 1,546 unduplicated recipients in the Mental Retardation Waiver Program (MRWP). $12,241,480 $28,160,327 Department of Community Health: Provide for a Medicaid Buy-In program. $1,700,882 $4,022,912 By December 1st, the Department of Community Health will conduct an analysis of potential costs for preventative and restorative care for adults with disabilities who are Medicaid eligible.
